Hip Openers (Rotation) - On the Floor

This is an enjoyable movement exploration that can easily be turned into a restorative pose once you get your legs supported with some cushions or blankets. Feel for that movement only happening in the hip joint. Keep the pelvis still.

Today we play with another kind of hip opening. Abduction. This is when a limb moves to the side, away from your midline. Imagine your body is sandwiched between two giant sheets of glass; behind you, and in front of you. This is the plane we are moving in. 

Pay attention to compensations in the pelvis on this one! We want to specifically explore how the hips are moving in the socket.
