What is Therapeutic Yoga?

Heather practices yoga therapy as a personal, goal-driven process. Sessions tend to focus on injury recovery and prevention, all rooted in body and breath connection.

Sessions bring softness and intention to how you move. Together, you’ll notice what’s already moving well, what isn’t, and what your body has been doing instead to get by.

When a movement in daily life feels complex or demanding, Heather will help you break it down into smaller, more manageable pieces. From there, she will look for ways to support you, take some of the load off, or work with gravity differently, so that control and ease start to feel possible again. Slowly, you will build the movement back up, giving your body a chance to learn a better way to manage it.

This isn’t an hour of being talked through a sequence of poses. Sometimes we observe and work with a troublesome movement through a yoga posture, sometimes we take a completely different approach. The ‘yoga’ in this work is more about the approach and mindset than the literal shape.

Underneath all of this is a bit of nervous system retraining, helping your body relearn that movement is safe. The goal is simple: more mobility, more strength, and more independence, over time.

Our Therapists

Heather Green | Certified Yoga Therapist

Heather has found that when people slow down enough to notice what their bodies have been trying to tell them, some of the most impactful changes occur. She finds it especially inspiring to watch someone who once struggled with body awareness and coordination move through complex patterns with newfound ease, or someone whose body was guarded by a fear of pain or injury move with more range, ease, and comfort as their nervous system learns it’s safe to let go.

This kind of awareness can also help clients catch early signals from their bodies, giving them a better chance of avoiding strain or injury down the road.

She strives to empower her clients, helping them build a deeper understanding of their own bodies and patterns, so they can carry that awareness into daily life.

Together, they spend the full session exploring more than just movement. Heather helps her clients look at the patterns their bodies have developed, and gently uncover new ways to support change. Clients learn to use breath, rest, and mindful movement to create ease, build healthier mobility, and calm their nervous system. Her fun and light hearted approach makes sessions engaging, interactive and exploratory.

It’s especially meaningful when clients arrive already noticing changes in their daily life, curious to explore how to build on them, a sign that what they’re working on together is becoming part of how they move through the world.

Heather completed her Yoga Therapy Certification in 2022.

But what if you’re sick?!

Please call your therapist to reschedule if you are sick – even if it’s just a cold. They will waive the late cancellation fee if you give them this opportunity to fill the spot.

We cannot provide treatment to someone who shows up sick. Since this scenario would leave us no time to fill the space, the appointment would be billed as a ‘No Show’.

Don’t live near Heather? That’s not a problem! Yoga Therapy can be done over a secure video call. Contact Heather to inquire.
